Where do I even begin? I know that this may sound like any other of my articles, but, since this is the official About Me-page, I am inclined to do it differently this time. I am someone who has an intense love for languages, literature and history. It is, therefore, not too odd that I ultimately decided to study language and literature at Leiden University. This was not my first choice though, and it took me quite a while to figure out my ‘correct’ path.
While I studied at Leiden University, I had the opportunity to meet some of the brightest minds in the literary and philological field. They inspire me until this day to do research. This is not entirely true, as I always had a keen and hungry mind for any new knowledge. The consumption of knowledge is what drives me to write and publish articles.
Mellowfield is a website that permits me to keep doing research, even while my university days are over. The topics have the reader and writer think more deeply. Someone once asked me whether I could create a platform that would harbour all my preferences and creative expressions. Well, I hope, for this person, that Mellowfield shall be the answer to this question.
Creative expressions
If you have read my home page, there is a possibility that you passed along my home page’s introduction to the website. I speak about ‘creative expression’, just like I did just now. A ‘creative expression’ is what I would like to call anything that relates to expressing an art form. On this website, I tend to throw all sorts of art forms to the visitor: writing, painting, sketching, drawing, music, drama, literature and much more.
It is also good to mention here that everything on this website has been handcrafted by myself. The drawings may not appear as flashy or polished as many other websites, but they are all my creations. Nothing on this website taps into AI, and it is also the main goal to leave it as humanly crafted as possible.
One could wonder how all these interests could align under one single website, and this is a fair question to ask. Mellowfield is a medium that lingers somewhere between academia and a cosy nook. I believe that these different subjects balance each other because all these art forms contain a story and lead to individual interpretations. Whether it is a video game, book, painting or a piece of music, each narrative explores and invites another interpretation.
